I have started to transfer these Ullswater parish family history sites starting with Barton Banter.  Not only the message board and photographs have been transferred, the other tabs have transferred. Click on custom page in bottom left corner of this message for census transcriptions and BMDs

Welcome to

"Jake" Prescott's

Martindale Mart

I hope members will freely exchange information to assist themselves and others verify their roots in Martindale, a small community which includes the hamlets of Howtown and Sandwick on the south eastern [what was the Westmorland] side of Lake Ullswater. If you have an interest in the area please sign up as member and place your interests on the Message Board.

I request that no commercial gain is made of these indices

See Vision of Britain site for historic description http://www.visionofbritain.org.uk/place/place_page.jsp?p_id=2460&st=Martindale

Bear in mind that many Martindale folk made use of the "mother" church up the road at Barton especially  for marriages even where both parties lived in Martindale.

Thanks must be given for 1891 and 1901 census transcript provided by Chris Darvill
